Profile: I'm an American freelance travel writer who retired to Rome in January 2014. I have traveled to 107 countries and written freelance stories from about half of them for news sites ranging from The New York Times to the Los Angeles Times to GoNomad.com. I write a blog for my travel website called Dog-Eared Passport in which I write about my travels around the world and my life in Rome. I began travel writing in 1984 at the start of a 40-year career as a sportswriter, the last 23 with The Denver Post.
